Yellow Reimagined explores yellow’s cultural and psychological meanings, revealing its everyday impact through a unique visual language. Central to the project is the art installation The Sun Orb, a luminous sphere that immerses audiences in a sensory experience of yellow.
The exhibition catalogue brings the installation’s concepts to life with research, stunning visuals, and typographic play. A series of postcards and a branded tote bag extend the project’s bold visual identity."

THE DESIGN PROCESS
This study of yellow began with its cultural significance worldwide, examining historical avant-garde movements and the interplay of colour and typography in communication design. Constructivist and Bauhaus designers were explored for their pioneering integration of colour into typographic practice, while contemporary designers like Paula Scher illustrated how colour can strategically convey meaning.
The research also considered yellow’s symbolic role, highlighting its power to add meaning, structure, and experiential depth to written communication.
The Sun Room is an immersive, sensory experience that reimagines the colour yellow through a radiant light sphere. The Sun Orb progresses through a 1 hour cycle of four distinct 15-minute phases, each reflecting a different stage of the sun and its connection to mind and body.
Visitors are encouraged to contemplate what yellow means to them, leaving the space with their own open interpretation.
"The Sun Orb begins the initial phase. With a dim light, it glows dark in its own presence and yellow is yet to shine. Phase 01 encapsulates a dark essence, mourning the lack of light. In a state of melancholy, the orb hides in its own shadows."
"In the next phase, light is invited in ever so slightly, transitioning the orb into an acid yellow green. The energy feels bitter. Yellow with envy, it rejects the light and fills with disdain. It does not wish to shine like a sun."
"The third phase overwhelms the Sun Orb. The light is so powerful, that the resent it once felt has now dissipated. It discerns its potential to shine with beauty, gleaming with a golden yellow shade that fills the room."
"In its final phase, the Sun Orb radiates joy. Filled with vibrancy, it soaks in the rays that it projects. The Sun Orb is finally at peace, radiating a shade of yellow so bright that it shines on the whole world."
